Our Farms

Our family farm has a rich history and we are proud of that history, as well as our agricultural roots.

In 1903, John and Mary Annas purchased 111 acres of farm land in the Freemason area of Caldwell County. After the farm transitioned to the next generation in 1952, their son Marvin and his wife, Rose, owned and farmed 71 acres of the original Annas Farm. In 1970, their daughter Evelyn and her husband, Eugene Wilson, purchased the farm and the 45 acres that remained. In 2001, Eugene and Evelyn passed the Annas Farm on to their son Gary Wilson and his wife, Jan. Since then, Gary and his son, Nicholas, along with Gary's brothers, Troy and Rex, have farmed the Annas Farm. This farm is where we maintain our main Black Angus herd.

In 1904, John Wesley Wilson III and his wife, Alice sold their 200 acre farm in the Oak Ridge community of Burke County and purchased a 350 acre farm just across the Catawba River in the Dry Ponds community of Caldwell County. 80 acres of our family farm comes from the farm John and Alice bought and added to over the years.

40 of those acres make up The May Place. This part of our farm was purchased from Alice by her son Azor Wilson and his wife, Maggie in 1932. Shortly after Azor passed away, Maggie sold The May Place to her son Eugene Wilson and his wife, Evelyn in 1957. In 2001, Eugene and Evelyn passed the farm on to their son Troy Wilson. When Troy passed away in 2017, The May Place was left to his nephews, Jeremy and Nicholas Wilson, and their wives, Staci and Misty Wilson. Since 2021, Nicholas and Misty Wilson have owned and operated the entire farm at The May Place. In 2022, this farm became the home of our Belted Galloway herd.

Another 40 acres of John and Alice's farm make up The Dry Ponds Farm. This part of our farm was purchased from John and Alice by Azor Wilson in 1921. Azor and his wife, Maggie, left their farm to family after they passed and Rex Wilson ended up with The Dry Ponds Farm. After ending his farming career, Rex leased his farm out and in 2021 his nephew, Nicholas Wilson started farming The Dry Ponds Farm. The herd on this farm has a mixture of Hereford and Angus cattle.

The Dry Ponds Farm

We are proud of our family farm that has fed our family for more than a century now. The Annas Farm and The May Place have been recognized by the NC Department of Agriculture as Century Farms. To be designated as a Century Farm, a farm must remain in continuous ownership of the same family for more than 100 years. Our family has continuously owned and operated all 3 of our farms since 1903 and 1904. We look forward to our farms hopefully being in our family for another century.
